Why Use Video?
Using video, particularly in the wine and food industry, has huge benefits which more and more companies are taking advantage of. Wine and food are products that need to be tasted, which is difficult to convey to people on a mass scale. However with a visual association to the products, people are much more likely to remember them. Video can convey personality like no other medium can. People respond to people.
Move up the Google ranks and increase your bounce rate:
If you want your website to get noticed, you need to be high up on the first page of Google…and stay there. Quite simply, the easiest way to do that is to add video to your site. Video is also the easiest way to get people to stay on your site (ie increase your ‘bounce rate’). And the more videos you add, the more hits you will get. Multiple videos, released weekly or monthly, will also help you gain a loyal fan base who keep returning to your site.
Did you know:
- Google now displays Youtube videos on their general search pages.
- Videos are 50 times more likely than web pages to get a page one ranking on a search engine and that’s because there are over 1 trillion web pages listed in Google but less than 10 billion videos worldwide. Therefore the competition for videos is 1/100th less making it easier to rank key words. It’s also 25% more likely a video gets clicked than a standard web page. That’s because Google research indicates that 25% of all clicked searches are videos, so therefore a quarter of all Google searches are NOT web pages!
- YouTube is the second largest search engine after Google. Online video (excluding Adult!) makes up 52% of all of the world’s internet traffic and from that massive amount of traffic, YouTube accounts for over 40%. So essentially, one quarter of the entire world’s internet time is spent watching YouTube videos.
- Most of the big players, including Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo are putting up huge amounts of cash for stakes in the video streaming industry (Google spent $1.65 billion buying YouTube). They obviously have confidence in the future of online video.
Increase your sales:
A recent study by Treepodia (the main authority in video use in eCommerce) found sales of the retailers surveyed greatly increased, some as much as 88%, when they included a video of the product on the site. They found this was often the case even if the video wasn’t watched (!) and this was thought to be because the presence of video created customer confidence and trust. The more commonplace video becomes on websites, the more customers will come to distrust a website that does not utilise video.
‘Class up’ your website:
Even if your goal is not advertising, the addition of video to your website gives the visitor a better experience. If they enjoy spending time on your site, your brand will immediately become more appealing and memorable to them. In short, the classier your site looks, the more people will take interest in your product.
